Fact Sheet
Programs:
During the school year, each FLI high school participant:
- Identifies a personal dream or passion
- Meets, interviews and selects a professional Mentor from the community
- Develops and initiates a project that Maximizes school and/or community benefits
- Gives and receives regular team feedback and support
- Is awarded a $200 grant to initiate the project
- Receives one-to-one professional coaching with trained teacher
- Develops a plan for long-term project impact or “legacy”
- Publicly presents project impact and personal growth

2005 - 2006 Accomplishments:
- 31 students served (that’s 31 new bold humanitarian leaders!)
- 75 additional students from 10 schools enrolled in 2006-07
- Partnerships with Albany High, Oakland High and Alameda Community Learning Center (a charter school)
- 15 teachers trained and participating as FLI Guides
- Media attention: KRON Channel 4, The Oakland Tribune, KPFA public radio, Contra Costa Times, The East Bay
Daily News, Argus Tri-Valley Herald, Alameda Times Star, The Daily Review and the San Mateo County Times
- FLI offered for credit at all partner schools
- Over 40 professionals volunteering as mentors
- Significant benefits for youth, schools and communities

- Formal partnerships with 10 Bay Area schools
- Build 2,300 bold humanitarian leaders
- Explore program growth to one other area of the USA
- Assessments demonstrating long-term benefits for schools, students, families and communities
